Cardiac Values Flashcards
What is Rate Pressure Products and what does is measure?
AKA Double Pressure Product
RPP = HR x SBP
The pressure (workload) on the heart; predictor of myocardial oxygen demand
What is Cardiac Output
CO = SV x HR (Units in L/minute)
Amount of blood pumped out from the heart per minute
How Does HR and Cardiac Output correlate with increasing with work rate?
HR increases linearly, will eventually hit steady state
CO increases linearly with work rate
When does HR and CO reach a plateau?
100% VO2 Max
Blood pressure changes with increasing work rate?
MAP increases linearly
SBP increases
DBP remains fairly constant
What amount of change to DBP during exercise should raise a concern?
Above or below 10 mmHg from their baseline.
How do Sympathetic and Parasympathetic stimulation influence HR?
Parasympathetics: Slows down HR
Sympathetics: Increases HR
What components influence stroke volume
Contraction Strength: Increases with increase contraction strength
End Diastolic Volume;Preload: Increases via Frank-Starling Mechanism
Increased TPR; Afterload, decresease SV
What is the formula for MAP?
MAP = CO x TPR
