Q

what are intercalated disks? what are they composed of?

A

intercalated disks indicate the edge of one cell and the beginning of another

they are made of desmosomes which keep the cells from tearing form one another when they contract; they are also composed of gap junctions held open between the cells by protein so that the cells can communicate

Q

what are the nuclei like in cardiac muscle cells? what is contained in the nucleus and why?
