Prevents LH release via negative feedback = prevents estrus

Liver toxicity –> liver toxicity

Used to suppress long or short term reproductive functions in dogs

An estrogen shot given with 72 hours of breeding
Results in tubular lockage –> alters sperm transport, capacitation, fertilization, and oviductal environment
Prevents pregnancy in 62% of animals
What are some signs of estrogen toxicity?
Bone marrow suppression in dogs and ferrets
** Can be lethal
What effect does prostaglandin have on the bitch/ queen?
Lyses the CL
- Side effects includes smooth muscle contractions that decrease over time
- Luteolytic fairly close to LD50 (5x)
