Operation Flight Tracking

A

IN FLIGHT: Time between communications must not exceed 15 minutes. If no response, another 15 minutes until incident is assumed.

A

Nurses: CFRN, CTRN

Paramedics: 3 years experience. 4000 critical care experience. Strongly encouraged to have NRP if employed for more than 2 years.

Shift Requirements

A

Clinicians are not required to perform duties beyond transport services.

Access to uninterrupted rest

Ability to call timeout

Risk Management system

Excess of 24 hours:

Base averages <1 transport per day

Provides at least 10 hours rest in each 24-hour period

Location of base/program is remote (one way commute in excess of 2 hours)

A

Patient securing system with 3 points of contact.

Two sources of oxygen

Two suction units - Mounted and portable.

Defibrillation capabilities. End Tidal waveform capnography - transcutaneous is acceptable for neonatal teams.

A

Green - Rested “amped up”
Yellow - Transition Zone - Care or emergency response. High intensity
Orange - Injury zone - Situational call with poor outcome or lots of time in yellow zone. Time for intervention.
Red - Illness zone - Anxiety, depression, substance abuse, ptsd, suicidal ideation. Mental health support and evaluation.
