Ca2+ antagonists Flashcards
1
Q
dihydropyridine
A
used in hypertension and angina
vasodilators dont act on the heart
2
Q
rate limiting calcium antagonists
A
used in hypertension, angina and supraventricular arrythmias
3
Q
mechanism of action
A
interfere with the inward displacement of calcium ions through the slow channels of active cell membranes
4
Q
contraindications and cautions
A
- CBBS, especially rate limiting ones should not be administered to patients being treated with a beta blocker
- beta blockers depress cardiac electrical and mechanical activity and therefore the addition of a CCB augments the effects of the beta blockade
5
Q
side effects
A
- Dizziness
- Flushing
- Headache
- Nausea
- Dihydropydines - ankle oedema
6
Q
