C5.1.6 - Titration Calculations Flashcards
What do you learn from a titration?
The two reactants used
The volume and concentration of one of the reactants
Just the volume of the other reactant
What are the two titration calculations you need to know?
Sodium hydroxide solution titration with dilute hydrochloric acid
Sodium hydroxide solution titration with dilute sulphuric acid
If 25cm3 of 0.100mol/dm3 sodium hydroxide solution was titrated with dilute hydrochloric acid, with the mean titre as 20cm3, calculate the concentration of the acid.
- 100mol/dm3 * 0.025dm3 = 0.0025mol
0. 0025mol / 0.020dm3 = 0.125mol/dm3
If 25cm3 of 0.400mol/dm3 sodium hydroxide solution was titrated with dilute sulfuric acid, with the mean titre as 10cm3, calculate the concentration of the acid.
- 400mol/dm3 * 0.025dm3 = 0.010mol
- 010mol / 2 = 0.0050mol
- 0050mol / 0.010dm3 = 0.5mol/dm3
