Landowning aristocrats, large landowners
Entrepreneurs, owning or running a business
Jet set, made money from sport.
Difference between ‘super rich’ and ‘upper class’
Super rich is based more on achievement whereas upper class is based more ascribed (inherited) status.
What does social closure mean?
Their education, leisure time and daily lives are separated from and partially invisible to the rest of the population.

Top public schools - prestigious universities, making valuable social contacts, positions of power
Family, marriage and kinship
Upper class people intermarry, exclusive lifestyle.
Social and leisure activities
Exclusive social events, provide sense of real class. Events; hunting, shooting, tennis and horse racing Chris Rojek (2000) - 3 richest men in the world lives revolve around their work
