A

Central acute vestibular syndrome

Neurological disorder caused by health conditions that compromise the structure and function of the central division of the vestibular system

  • brain stem (more common)
  • cerebellum (more common)
  • thalamus
  • cerebral cortex

How is it diagnosed? (objective and subjective)

A

Objective:
- Dix hallpike - negative

  • Eye ax: positive - vertical nystagmus
  • Head impulse test (VOR): positive

Subjective:

  • Describe dizziness: world moving around them
  • dizziness lasts longer than a minute
