Smoking in household
Sibling in school/viral transmission
Prematurity (chronic lung disease)

Presentation
A
2-3 days worsening coryzal symptoms.
Wheeze, crackles
Chest recession, tachypnoea, cough

Investigations
A
Nasopharyngeal aspirate for RSV (respiratory syncytial virus)
Bloods and urine culture if pyrexial
Blood gas if severely unless.
CXR indicated if atypical signs and progression.

Management
A
Will subside within 7 days with adequate fluid, nutritional support and temperature control.
Admission urgent if: Respiratory distress (RR >70, grunting, central cyanosis, nasal flaring, costal recessions, apnoea)
