What are features of mastitis?

A

Severe pain, tender breast
Treat if unwell or not improving despite pumping
Treat with oral flucloxacillin 10-14 days

Q

What is Raynauds disease of the nipple?

A

Intermittent pain present during and after feeding
Nipple may blanche followed by cyanosis or erythema
Pain resolves when nipple returns to normal colour

Treat conservatively
= heat packs
- avoid cold exposure
- avoid caffeine/smoking
- nifedipine can be used in specialist cases
