Seizures

Surgery
+/- radiation / chemo
What is a grade 3 astrocytoma?
Anaplastic astrocytoma - malignant
Survival of a grade 3 astrocytoma?
2 years
What is a grade 4 glioma?
Glioblastoma multiforme - malignant
Survival with grade 4 glioma?
< 1 year
Treatment for malignant gliomas?
Surgery
Post op radiotherapy
Chemo - temozolamide
What are oligodendrogliomas derived from?
Oligodendrocytes
Where are oligodendrogliomas usually found?
Mainly in frontal lobes
Who normally gets oligodendrogliomas?
25-45 year olds

MRI

Biopsy
Treatment of oligodendrogliomas?
Chemo sensitive
Surgery and chemo
Median survival of low grade oligodendrogliomas?
10 years
Who gets meningiomas?
More females
Older
Where do meningiomas starts?
Meninges
Are meningiomas fast growing?
No majority are benign and slow growing
Presentation of meningiomas?
Majority asymptomatic
Headaches
Regional anatomical disturbance
If affect skull base -> cranial nerve neuropathies

Small - expectant
Perioperative embolisation
