Cervical Vertebrae
Concave group of 7 vertebrae C1 - C7. Top of the spinal column
Thoracic Vertebrae
Convex group of vertebra T1 - T2
Lumbar Vertebrae
Concave grouping of 5 vertebrae L1- L5 that are upper part of the Lower back
Coccyx
4 fused vertebrae that make up the tail bone
Sacrum
Convex grouping of 5 fused vertebrae that make up the sacrum
Intervertebral discs
Cushion like pad that are in between the vertebrae
Body of Vertebrae
cylindrical in shape. upper and lower surfaces are flattened and rough
Vertebral Foramen
Big hole in the middle of each Vertebrae
Intervertebral Foramen
Hole or notch on either side of Vertebrae
Transverse Process
Two small boney protrusion around the transverse foramen.
Spinous Process
The pointy posterior end of each vertebrae opposite the body
Superior Articular Processes
Small boney protrusion on either side of the superior or top of the vertebrae that fits into the vertebrae above
Inferior articular process
Small boney protrusion on either side of the inferior or bottom side of the vertebrae that fits into the vertebrae below.
Sacral foramina
Four holes on either side of the sacrum
Sacroiliac Joint
the joint in the bony pelvis between the sacrum and the ilium of the pelvis
