6
Q

What is the olecranon fossa of the humerus?

A

Divot on the back of the distal end of the humerus (olecranon of the ulna fits into this fossa when the arm extends)

16
Q

What is the neck of the radius (proximal)?

A

Narrowed transition portion just distal to the head of the radius (on the proximal end of the radius)

17
Q

What is the styloid process of the distal radius?

A

Little bump at the distal end of the radius

18
Q

How does the distal end of the ulna differ from the distal end of the radius?

A

distal end of the radius is much wider/larger

**THE HEAD OF THE ULNA IS AT THE DISTAL END

**THE HEAD OF THE RADIUS IS AT THE PROXIMAL END

Radius: lateral bone of forearm
Ulna: medial bone of forearm

19
Q

What carpal bones are in the proximal row?

A

Scaphoid, lunate, triquetrium, pisiform

20
Q

What is the scaphoid?

A

*Most lateral in carpal bone in proximal row (closest to radial side)

21
Q

What is the lunate?

A

Second most lateral carpal bone of the proximal row

22
Q

What is the triquetrium?

A

Second most medial carpal bone of the proximal row

23
Q

What is the pisiform?

A

Carpal bone in the proximal row that “sits like a pebble” on top of the triquetrium

*Most medial (closest to ulnar side)

24
Q

What are the carpal bones of the distal row?

A

Trapezium, trapezoid, capitate, hamate

25
Q

What is the trapezium?

A

*Most lateral carpal bone in the distal row
(closest to radial side)

26
Q

What is the trapezoid?

A

Second most lateral carpal bone in the distal row

27
Q

What is the capitate?

A

Second most medial carpal bone in the distal row

28
Q

*Most medial carpal bone in the distal row
(closest to ulnar side)

29
Q

What is the hook of the hamate?

A

Arch on the hamate carpal bone (distal row)

30
Q

What are the metacarpals (1-5)?

A

The bones just distal to the carpal bones
*metacarpals 1-5 follow digit numbers

31
Q

What is the 1st digit?

A

Thumb

32
Q

What is the 2nd digit?

A

Pointer finger

33
Q

What is the 3rd digit?

A

Ring finger

35
Q

What is the 5th digit?

A

Pinky

36
Q

What are phalanges?

A

Small bones that make up the digits

37
Q

Which digits have a proximal, middle, and distal phalange?

A

Digits 2-5
