Body Fluids Flashcards
Macrophage
Found in serous fluids
Respond to infection and tissue injury
Erythrophage
Macrophage that has ingested erythroid cells
Usually due to hemorrhage
Siderophage
Hemosiderin containing macrophage
Indicate heart or lung failure
Neutrophage
A neutrophil that has injested something
Mesothelial Cell
Line the bodys serous cavities and internal organs
Choroid Plexus Cell
Normal in cerebral spinal fluid
Ependymal Cell
Run along the ventricles of the brain and spinal cord
Chondrocyte
Make extra cellular matrix components like collagen, glycoproteins, proteoglycans, and hyaluronan
Synovial Cell
Found in synovial fluid, responsible for the production of synovial fluid components, for absorption from the joint cavity, and for blood/synovial fluid exchanges
Hemosiderin
Seen in CSF when there is a subarachnoid hemorrhage
Hematoidin
Seen in CSF during a subarachnoid hemorrhage
Cholesterol Esters
Crystal in synovial fluid
Indicates rheumatoid arthritis
Monosodium Urate
Crystal in synovial fluid
Indicates gout
Calcium Pyrophosphate Dihydrate
Crystal in synovial fluid
Indicates pseudogout
Steroid Esters
Crystal in synovial fluid
Indicates steroid injections
