  • Enters ant compartment through IOM
  • Continues down ant surface, crosses ankle joint and running between EDL and EHL tendons
  • Enters dorsal of foot as Dorsalis Pedis Artery

  • Passing to MT1

- Palpable between tendons of EHL and EDL, between base of MT1 and navicular

Posterior Tibial Artery

A
  • Passes down back of leg deep to soleus
  • Runs behind med malleolus and divides into Med and Lat Plantar Arteries
  • Palpable post to med mall

A

Diabetics have poor circulation so their pulses could be faint
-if they have numb feet etc check for necrosis as they could have insufficient blood flow

Test for blood flow- squeeze and wait to see how long it takes for them to pink up
