What are some functions of blood?

A

Transport

  • Transports nutrients, oxygen and hormones to the tissues
  • Removes waste such as carbon dioxide and urea

Regulation

  • Helps to keep the body’s pH within its homeostatic range
  • Helps in regulating the bodies temperature

Protection

  • Prevents blood loss if blood vessels are damaged
  • Prevents the body from toxins and pathogens
