What are some functions of blood?
A
Transport
- Transports nutrients, oxygen and hormones to the tissues
- Removes waste such as carbon dioxide and urea
Regulation
- Helps to keep the body’s pH within its homeostatic range
- Helps in regulating the bodies temperature
Protection
- Prevents blood loss if blood vessels are damaged
- Prevents the body from toxins and pathogens

A
- A clear, pale, yellow liquid that comprises 46-63% of the whole blood
- Plasma is 92% water
- it is dissolved organic and inorganic solutes (wastes)
- Also consists of plasma proteins (7%)
