Blood Flashcards
What are the 3 Functions Blood?
- Distribution of
- Regulation of
- Protection against
What are the 3 proteins that are Blood Plasma?
60% albumin
36% globulins
4% fibrinogen
What is the function of Erythrocytes? (Red)
They carry oxygen from the lungs to the body, and bring carbon dioxide back to the lungs to be expelled
What are White Blood Cells? (Leukocytes)
They are cells of the immune system that are involved in protecting the body against both infectious disease and foreign invaders
What are Platelets?
A small colourless disc-shaped cell fragment without a nucleus, found in large numbers in blood and involved in clotting
What is Haemophilia?
It’s a bleeding disorder that slows the blood clotting process.
What are the different parts of Blood Composition?
Plasma Formed elements Erythrocytes (red blood cells, or RBCs) Leukocytes (white blood cells, or WBCs) Platelets
What do Arteries do?
Carry blood away from the heart
What do capillaries do?
Contact tissue cells and directly serve cellular needs
What do veins do?
Carry blood towards the heart
Pulmonary Circuit?
Supplied by right heart
Blood vessels to and from heart and lungs
Systemic Circuit?
Supplied by left heart
Blood vessels to and from heart and systemic tissues
