Cut from sharp instrument, tendons, nerves + arteries can be damaged

A scrape, doesn’t penetrate the epidermis
Gunshot wound
Can be entry + exit
Treatment of external bleeding
Assess wound + locate source of the bleed
If there is a foreign object LEAVE IT!!!
Apply direct pressure to wound
Elevate
Apply sterile dressing + bandage
Check that it’s not too tight
If blood seeps through, apply 2nd bandage on top
Internal bleeding treatment
Treat for shock
Call 112
Reassure + monitor vital signs
Lung bleeding appearance
Bright red + frothy spittle
Kidney bleeding appearance
Grey smoky coloured urine
Stomach bleeding appearance
Maroon coloured vomit
Lower intestine bleeding appearance
Bright red
Upper intestine bleeding appearance
Black tarry blood in poo
When should you not remove a crush victim
After 15 mins
Treatment of crush injuries
Call 112
Release patient ASAP
Control any bleeding + manage any fracture
Treat for shock
Amputation - treatent
Check airway
Control bleeding - PEEP
Sterile dressing
Treat for shock
Call 112
