What happens when someone has an allergic reaction?
They may develop a rash, itchiness, on their hands feet or face. Their breathing may slow. Vomiting and diarrhea may also occur
What is anaphylaxis?
Anaphylactic shock is a severe allergic reaction that causes breathing problems + possible thready pulse/low blood pressure/unconsciousness.
What to do if someone is experiencing anaphylaxis
If they have an epipen, help them use it.
Call 112 + reassure them while waiting for the ambulance
How to use an epipen
♡Hold the pen in a fist with the blue end facing up to the sky.
♡Pull of the blue cap.
♡If the window on the side of the pen is clear, it’s ready to use.
♡Swing your hand back and push the pen into your thigh.
♡When you hear a click, hold the pen for five seconds.
signs + symptoms
rash/hives
flushed/pale skin
breathing difficulties
swelling of the limbs + puffy red eyes
stomach pain, nausea, vomiting diarrhoea
weak + rapid pulse
confusion, dizziness, unconsciousness, fainting
