BL-M of Foot Tai Yang Flashcards
conditions
conditions of head, nape (neck), eye, back (upper and lower), lower limbs, mental disorders,
back shu points are indicated for corresponding organs and pertaining organs
signs and symptoms
aching of eye, lacrimation on facing wind, nasal obstruction+discharge, epistaxis, depressive-manic syndrome, malaria, headache, pain at nape (neck), back, lower back and gluteal fossa and posterior aspect of lower limbs
pathway
- originates inner canthus Jingming (BL1)
- travels up forehead to connect with Du-M at GV24, then travels 1.,5cun lateral to midline // to Du-M up to the vertex GV20
- 3 branches from vertex - 1. internal branch connects to the GB-M - 2. internal branch connects to temporal region to BR - 3. iexternal branch continues along head. - 2 internal branches resurface and meet external branch at BL10
- From BL10 meridian bifurcates into 2 branches - 1. connects with GV14 then runs 1.5 cun lateral to midline to level of S4 before going back to connect sacral foramen then down lateral thigh to lateral end of popliteal crease and ends at BL40 at middle of popliteal fossa. internal connection at level of L2 to enter kidney and bladder - 2 travels down back at 3 cun lateral to midline in line with medial border of scapula. continues to thigh and joins with other branch at BL40.
- From BL40 continues down leg passing through belly of gastrocnemius muscle before divering laterally and inferiorly to lateral malleolous
- then travels along red+white skin along tuberosity of 5th MT
- terminates at lateral side of small toe
luo connecting meridian
longitudinal - follows pathway of primary meridian to head and nose
transverse - BL luo pt BL58 to KI yuan pt KI3
divergent meridian
starts at popliteal fossa, goes up anus passing through BL+KI and links with HT, ascends to occiput and unites with KI-M divergent at first confluent pt BL10
muscle region
starts from little toe, knots at external malleolus and knee
lower branch separates below malleolous, extends to heel then goes up to popliteal fossa - one branch separates from head of gastrocnemius muscle and also knots at popliteal fossa
the two branches join at gluteal region and ascend to nape where one branch separates and enters root of tongue
other portion continues and knots at occipital bone, over head and again knots at bridge of nose
one branch from here goes around eyes and knots on cheek near nose
another branch separates from back and knots at shoulder at LI15
one more branch enters chest below axilla then knots at mastoid process at GB12
