Q

Define MRI scans

A

A non-invasive neuroimaging technqiue, that uses radio frequencies and magenetic feilds to produce detailed images of the brain.

Q

What are some strengths and weaknesses of the MRI?

A

STRENGTHS- non invasive (no surgery, radiation or discomfort)
high-resolution images (allows for visualization of structures within the body)
WEAKNESSES- pose risks for patients with metal implants, pacemakers, requires patinets to stay still for a long time

Q

FMRI defintion

A
  • Aspecialized MRI technique.
  • Used to measure and map brain activity by detecting changes in blood flow and oxygenation levels.

Q

Evaluate the FMRI

A
  • Strengths- non invasive (no surgery/injections) Safe (no radiation)
  • Weaknesses- expensive to purchase, operate, and maintain,

Q

EEG definition

A
  • A machine that measures electrical activity in nerve and muscle cells.
  • It uses macroelectrodes on the scalp/ skin

Q

EEG strengths and weakneses

A
  • Strengths: Offers High Temporal Resolution thus allows researchers to study the timing and dynamics of neural processes in real-time.
  • Weaknesses: Individual differences in skull thickness, and electrode placement can affect the consistency of EEG recordings
