Biodiversity- (10) Fungus Flashcards
Describe the anatomy of fungus
Hyphea- thread like filament, basic structural unit. Mycellium- net like mass of branching hyphea. Fruiting body- location of spore reproduction
4 types of fungi nutrition
Parasitic, predatory, mutualistic, saprobial
explain parasitic nutrition
fungi absorbs nutrients from the living cells of a host organism
explain predatory nutrition
mycelia have specialized structures for trapping prey.
explain mutualistic nutrition
partnership with another organism- such as protists. the mycelia cover the roots of the plant expanding surface area and sharing nutrition.
explain saprobial nutrition
feeds on dead organisms or organic waste. decomposers whose mycellium absorb nutrients from dead organisms.
how do fungi reproduce?
sexually and asexually. spores, budding (will grow and a portion of fungi will break off and exist independantly) and fragmentation (portion of fungi will break off and develop independently)
