A
different languages are processed by different areas in the brain (some overlap)
there are primary and secondary language specific regions
these are often found in frontal and posterior lobes

critical period hypothesis= children learn language easily due to plasticity in the brain
- creates higher density of grey matter (more sensory neurons and synapses)
- can delay the onset of Alzheimer by 5 years
- strengthens the dorsal lateral prefrontal cortex
