Behaviourism AO1 Flashcards
AO1 3 points
Born a blank slate, tabula rasa, so all behaviour is learnt.
Experiences and env we grow up in influences our behaviour
Our behaviour is result of nurture rather than nature.
Classical conditioning
Learning through associating a neutral stimulus with an unconditioned stimulus to create a conditioned response
Pavlov
Classically conditioned dogs to salivate in response to certain stimuli
John Watson
Classically conditioned Little Albert to associate a white rat with a loud noise to create the response of fear.
Operant conditioning
Learning through consequences of behaviour, using positive and negative. Reinforcement or punishment
Skinners rats
Positive reinforcement - rat presses lever= pellet of food = continues
Neg- electric shock = rat presses lever = shock stops = continues
