Basic Behaviors Flashcards
Define behavior
The way an animal response or reacts to a stimulus
Define stimulus
An environmental change the directly influences the activity of an organism either internally or externally
What influences behavior and animals
One Dash genetics
This could be found by asking what triggers an animal or reaction to a social and terminal change
2/environmental combined with genetics
These behaviors were developed by a combination of survival instincts with genetics
What are innate behaviors
Behaviors are genetically performed not caused by past experience
Fixed pattern behaviors
Sequence of actions that are triggered by stimulus
What are learned behaviors
Behaviors the results of an interaction between innate and past experience reactions within a particular environment
Habitation
A decrease in an animals response to a particular stimulus that has resulted in either positive or negative affect in the past
Like a police horse getting used to car horns in the city
Classical conditioning
and association between two different kind of stimuli
A dog associating a bell ring with food, so they salivate when they hear the ring associating the ring with food
Operant conditioning
Association between response to stimuli with positive or negative rewards
A dog gets a treat if they get told to get off the couch and they do it, Or they get sent to the kennel if they don’t
Imprinting
Learning that can only happen in a premature period of the animals life which is called the sensitive.
Salmon hatched in the spot returns to the same spot your produce because the chemicals in the water now associated with reproducing
Cognitive behavior’s
thinking reasoning a solving problems
Like a champ used a stone to crack open nuts
