Shipping bandage
A shipping bandage is used to support and protect a horse’s legs when the horse is in transit. This bandage covers the area from the top of the cannon bone down past the coronet band and sometimes over the heels
Exercise bandage
Provide support and protection during exercise and is generally less bulky than other bandages
Ice bandages
can be used to reduce inflammation and swelling
Heat bandages
Hot poultice or sweat wrap

- Start with clean leg
- Apply sweat (nitrofurazone)
- Cover area with sheet cotton
- Apply cotton inner wrap
- Cover with plastic wrap.
- Apply flannel outer wrap
Pressure bandage
control swelling after an acute injury, stop bleeding, help the reattachment of a skin flap and inhibit the formation of proud flesh
