Filter the blood to keep substances at normal levels.

How does a dialysis machine work?
A
Semi-permeable barrier, permeable to ions & waste.
Dialysis fluid with same concentration of ions/glucose as the blood.
Waste/excess water/ions diffuse across barrier.

How often does a patient have to undergo dialysis treatment?
A
3 times per week, 3/4 hour each.
