B. F. Skinner Flashcards
What is Operant Conditioning?
The process of shaping and maintaining a particular behavior by its consequences
What is the sequence to Operant Conditioning
- Procedure
- Added or removed stimulus
- Aversive or appetitive
- Future rate of behavior
Why does Skinner have a problem with Explanatory Fiction?
Explanatory fiction can impede further inquiry on the matter and can be too vague
What is reflexive behavior ?
Reflexive behavior is where an organism responds automatically to a stimulus.
What is the difference between Classical Conditioning and Operant Conditioning
CC- Stimuli influence other stimuli
OC- Response or behavior can influence stimuli
What is Aversion therapy
A person is exposed to a stimulus while simultaneously being exposed to an aversive stimulus
(I,e drinking dizziness)
What is the two factor theory
A traumatic event paired with a neutral stimulus
CC-NR= anxiety
What is exposure therapy?
systematic desensitizing the patient to the event that makes them anxious
