Autonomic Drugs 3 Flashcards
What in NET?
Neuronal amine uptake
What does NET do?
Re-uptake of norepinephrine from the synaptic cleft
What does VMAT do?
Breaks down monoamines depleting neurons of neurons of norepinephrine
What affect do cocaine and tricyclic antidepressants cause?
Inhibit NET
What affect does reserpine have?
Inhibits VMAT
Drugs that end in -olol and are A-M are what?
Selective B1 blockers
Drugs that end in -olol and are N-Z are what?
Non selective B blockers
What does long term use of beta blockers cause?
Up regulation of beta receptors causing drugs to be more potent
What does high lipid solubility cause in beta blockers?
High first pass liver extraction and metabolism and short plasma half life
What beta blocker do you use for aortic dissection?
Esmolol
What do amphetamine, methamphetamine and methylphenidate increase?
TAAR1 receptor which are associated with addiction
What beta blocker is administered to pregnant women?
Methyldopa
How is guanethidine taken up by pre-synaptic membranes?
NAT
What does guanethidine cause?
Depletes norepinephrine from pre synaptic cleft
What do tricyclines affect?
Only alpha receptors so heart is not affected
