Following administration of a bronchodilator (like as salbutamol):
1- Improvement in FEV1 of at least 12% AND
2- at least 200ml within 30min
What is an acceptable daytime symptoms for asthma?
4 times/week
What is an acceptable nightime symptoms for asthma?
Once per week
What are the acceptable FEV1 or PEF ratios for asthma?
85% or above
How can you distinguish asthma from COPD?
Patient is young Has allergy Has nocturnal symptoms FEV1 is reversible Variable dyspnoea Responsive to steroids
