A

cecum + appendix

19
Q

treatment of enterobiasis

A

ALBENDAZOLE/MEBANDAZOLE

20
Q

how to kids get infected with enterobiasis

A

autoinfection- eggs under the nails in kids

retroinfection : fresh eggs laid go back inside

21
Q

symptoms of enterobiasis

A

nocturnal enuresis
females: mucoid discharges, cervicitis, uti
teeth grinding

22
Q

pathogenesis of AL

A

eggs ingested, hatch in duodenum release rhabditiform larvae - portal system - heart - lungs - crawl up to be swallowed, develop into adults in SI

23
Q

symptoms of AL

A

mostly due to the allergy not so much the worms themselves but can cause
mechanical: obstruction
ectopic ascariasis
nutritional effects -

24
Q

which worms penetrate human skin

A

Ascaris lumbricoides Trichuris trichiura, Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus).

25
Q

different ways to catch ascaris lumbricoids

A

when the soil is heavily contaminated the eggs can be airborne and inhaled, where they get swallowd

commonly fecal oral through vegetables use to fertiliser

children playing in mud through dirty fingers

26
Q

what are the symptoms of ascariasis caused by

A

the larvae or adults

adults (migrating) causing loefllers , the effect of the larvae is more to do with allergic reaction and not the actual larvae themselves - so usually becomes apparent when heavy infection

27
Q

what’s unique about vermicular s

A

unlike the usual situation where helminth infections are common in the poor people of the tropic its quite the opposite its more comonin more affluent nations and colder countries also eosohagus has a double bulb structure which is unique to this worm
