Arthrology Overview Flashcards
Name all the types of SYNOVIAL type joints
Plane, Hinge, Sellar, Ellipsoidal, Ball & socket, Trochoid
Primary motion of Planar joint ?
Gliding, of two surfaces on each other.
What is examples of a planar joint?
A-C joint, SI joint, MOST spinal facet joints
What is examples of a hinge joint?
Elbow (humeroulnar), Knee (TIbiofemoral)
Other name for Hinge Joint?
Ginglymus
What is examples of a Sellar joint?
Sternoclavicular joint, 1st carpometacarpal joint
What is another name for seller joint?
Saddle joint
Explain how a saddle/sellar joint orientation is?
A concave and convex surface in two different planes opposing one another, to create motion at that joint.
What is examples of an Ellipsoidal joint?
2nd MCP (metacarpophalangeal)
What does Ellipsoidal joints motions look like
FLX/EXT/ABD/ADD/Rotation
What is orientation of Ellipsoidal joints?
Concave and Convex
What is examples of an pivot joint?
AtlantoAxial Joint (C1’s arch is pivoting around the Dens of C2)
& Proximal radio-ulnar joint (radius is pivoting on proximal ulnar).
Explain Convex-Concave Rule ?
Rolling in one direction, then sliding/glides in opposite direction.
Explain Concave-Convex rule
Rolls and slides/glides in same direction
What is the primary mover of a muscle?
Its main job
Whats the secondary mover?
Helps with job but not main role
What is an antagonist muscle mover?
It opposes the movement
What is the primary and secondary and antagonist mover of hip flexion
1) Iliopsoas
2) Rectus Femoris
Antagonist- Glute max
What is the primary and secondary and antagonist mover of hip Extension?
1) Glute max
2) semi-membranous
Antagonist- iliopsoas
What is the primary and secondary and antagonist mover of Dorsiflexion
1) Tibialis anterior
2) ?
Antagonist: Gastroc
What is the primary and secondary and antagonist mover of plantar flexion ?
1) gastroc
2) soleus
Antagonist: Tibialis Anterior.
