Arterial venous and lymph Flashcards
LN Head
Submental Submandibular Ant triangle Posterior triangle Pre auricular Post auricular Occipital Supraclavicular
Arterial Supply Head
Common carotid bifurcates into external and internal carotid arteries at C4 External carotid – head and neck external to cranium splits into temporal artery and the maxillary artery *middle meningeal artery is a branch of the maxillary artery Internal carotid – enters via the carotid canal Vertebral arteries – arise from the subclavian arteries and travel up through holes in the transverse processes of the cervical vertebrae known as the foramen transversarium Enter at the foramen magnum and gives rise to the basilar artery
Venous drainage Head
External jugular vein Anterior jugular vein Internal jugular vein (in the carotid sheath) Dural venous sinuses drain into the internal jugular vein
Arterial Supply Brain
Spinal cord – anterior spinal and posterior spinal arteries (all longitudinal arteries) anterior and posteiror segmental medulary arteries radicular arteries (follow path of the roots)
Venous drainage Brain
Spinal cord – anterior and posterior spinal veins drain into the internal and external vertebral plexuses The straight, superior and inferior sagittal sinuses are found in the falx cerebri and converge into the confluence of sinuses Drain into dural venous sinuses which then drain int the internal jugular vein
Arterial Supply Heart
Off the aorta: Brachiocephalic trunk ( r subclavian and r common carotid) Left common carotid Left subclavian Left coronary artery – LAD / left marginal artery and the left circumflex artery Right coronary artery – right marginal artery and the posterior interventricular artery
Venous drainage Heart
Coronary sinus = left posterior ventricular vein is a branch of this Superior vena cava arises form the left and right brachiocephalic vein
LN Lungs
Pulmonary ln – bifurcation of the branching lobar bronchi Bronchopulmonary hilar ln – lung hilum Tracheobronchial ln – above or below the bifurcation of the trachea Paratracheal ln – along the side of the trachea
Arterial Supply Lungs
Intercostal spaces - Posterior - Arterial supply – Thoracic aorta - Anterior - Arterial supply – Internal thoracic artery Lung hilum – bronchus, pulmonary artery, two pulmonary veins
Venous drainage Lungs
Posterior Venous drainage - Azygous vein Anterior Venous drainage – internal thoracic vein
LN Upper Limb
Basilic vein drains to cubital ln Cephalic vein drains to apical axillary ln Deep veins drains to the humeral axillary ln Right – eventually ends up in the right lymphatic duct Left – eventually ends up in the thoracic duc
Arterial Supply Upper Limb
Subclavian Axillary Brachial (bifurcates into…..) Radial Ulnar Which both bifurcate into…… Digital arteries
Venous drainage Upper Limb
Basilic vein – arises from the dorsal venous network of the hand and ascends the medial aspect of the UL Cephalic vein arises from the dorsal venous network and ascends the anterolateral aspect of the UL The cephalic vein and the basilic vein are connected by the median cubital vein.
LN Lower Limb
Superficial Great saphenous vein (median vessels) – drain to superficial inguinal ln Small saphenous vein (lateral vessels) – drain to popliteal ln Deep Femoral vein draisn to deep inguinal nodes
Arterial Supply Lower Limb
External iliac Femoral (at the inguinal ligament) Popliteal which bifurcates into Anterior tibial and the tibioperineal trunk (which then bifurcates into the posterior tibial and the fibular artery) Then Dorsalis pedis (a continuation of the anterior tibial) Posterior tibial which splits into lateral and medial plantar arteries) Aside – The obturator artery arises from the internal iliac artery The superior and inferior gluteal arteries branch from the internal iliac
Venous drainage Lower Limb
Deep veins of lower limb: Dorsal venous arch drains to anterior tibial vein Medial and lateral plantar veins form the posterior tibial and fibular veins All unite to form the popliteal vein Then femoral vein External iliac vein Inferior and superior gluteal veins drain into the internal iliac Superficial veins of the lower limb: Dorsal venous arch Great saphenous vein (medial) Femoral vein Or Dorsal venous arch of the foot Small saphenous vein (posterior) Popliteal vein
LN GI – stomach
Coeliac lymph nodes
Arterial Supply GI - stomach
Coeliac artery arising from abdo aorta at T12
Venous drainage GI - stomach
Gastric vein drains into the portal vein
LN GI – small bowel
Superior mesenteric lymph nodes
Arterial Supply - GI - small bowel
SMA arising from abdo aorta at L1
Venous drainage GI - small bowel
Superior mesenteric vein
