Q

Negatives of drive theory

A

High arousal affects info processing and therefore improved performance is dependant on stage of learning.
Cognitive learner more likely to make errors as their arousal increases dominant response not likely to be correct.

Q

Inverted U theory

A

as arousal increases so does arousal up to a point of optimum. Any further can cause peformance to deteriorate. Under arousal is bad to.

Q

How can you come back from a catastrophe

Q

Zone of optimal functioning

A

people respond differently to arousal. some succeed when arousal high and some when low. each athlete has own preffered level. They dont exceed optimum threshold just within or outside the zone which is their preferance

Q

What is the peak flow experience

A

feelings and performance levels experienced when in the zone. greatest experiences and self fufilment. Intrinsic when the athlete has a positive attitude feels confident focused and efficeint.
