Arm Flashcards
what are the parts of the anterior arm?
greater tubercle lesser tubercle trochlea capitulum coronoid fossa radial fossa styloid process olecranon
what is between the greater tubercle and the lesser tubercle of the humerus?
what passes on it
intertubercular groove aka bicipital groove
where tendon of long head of biceps brachii passes to its attachment at the supraglenoid tubercle
covered by transverse humeral ligament
what are the parts of the posterior humerus?
what travels on it?
coranoid fossa
radial groove aka radial sulcus where radial nerve travels beside brachial artery
what are the muscles and (their) actions of the anterior arm?
biceps brachii: flex forearm
brachialis: flex forearm
coracobrachialis: flex arm
what is the fascia that covers the posterior arm?
brachial fascia which becomes the antibrachial fascia in the forearm
what is the order of vasculature in the arm including major anatomical parts?
subclavian artery→axillary artery (at clavicle)→brachial artery (armpit, boundary of teres minor)→splits to ulnar + radial artery (at cubittal fossa)
what direction does the brachial artery travel?
anteromedially
what branches off brachial artery?
deep brachial artery (profunda brachii) to supply posterior arm
what are the veins of the arm and their anatomical positioning?
- basilic: medial superficial
- cephalic: lateral superficial
- medial cubital: connects basilic and cephalic veins at cubittal fossa
- deep brachial veins: drain into axillary vein
