Massive outdoor music venue in Millennium Park (a portion of Grant Park), designed by Gehry. It’s made up of a bunch of high steel bands. Named after the founder of Hyatt.
Jay Pritzker Pavilion (NOT JB)
Awesome museum created by Gehry, probably his most famous work, described as a “fantastic dream ship” by The New Yorker. It sits on the Nervion River.
Guggenheim Bilbao
Common name for a large commercial building built by Gehry, named for a huge Claes Oldenberg designed sculpture of a type of glasses outside it.
Binoculars Building
Cool MIT academic complex designed by Gehry which splits into the Gates and Dreyfoos towers on the fourth floor. MIT sued Gehry after a water leakage here.
Stata Center
Cool tower designed by Gehry in Manhattan’s Financial district. It used to be called Beekman Tower and was criticized by Donald Trump for surpassing the Trump World Tower in height by one foot. It was inspired by the Aqua building in Chicago (the tallest building designed by a woman).

Barcelona Pavilion
House built for a Jewish German family in Czechia by Mies with Lily Reich that was the original place where the Barcelona and Brno Chairs were both first used. Now a symbol of modernism.
Villa Tugendhat
Nice one room weekend retreat in rural Illinois designed by Mies. A symbol of Mies’ International Style.
Farnsworth House
Probably one of the most famous buildings in NYC, if not the world. Exterior was designed by Mies, interior, including the Four Seasons Restaurant, was designed by Philip Johnson.
Seagram Building
Two major Chicago apartments designed by Mies which became controversial because there are mullions (dividers between screens and windows) that are intentionally not functional. One of Mies’ most famous works.
Lake Shore Drive Apartments 860 - 880
Mies designed building that is the home of the College of Architecture at Illinois Institute of Technology. Designed to give students perspective on ‘less is more.’
S.R Crown Hall
Mies’ designed library named for a civil rights activist, a rare example of modern architecture in DC.
