what are the core concepts of OT?
altruism - place needs of others before own
equality - fairness
freedom - client’s decisions
justice - respect laws and standards
dignitiy - treat people with respect
truth - provide accurate information
prudence - use of clinical and ethical reasoning
what are the OT code of ethics
beneficence - concern for well being of client.
nonmaleficence - refrain from actions that cause harm
autonomy - respect the right of individual to self-determination
social justice - services provided in fair and rquitable manner
procedural justice - comply with rules
veracity - provide accurate information
fidelity - treat others with respect
what are the different sanctions that can be imposed if unethical conduct has occured?
reprimand - private letter censure - public, formal notice of disapproval probation suspension permanent revocation
what are the three types of ethical issues/problems?
ethicla temptation - difficult ot follow through on course of action that the person knows is right because they are tempted to go against it
ethical distress - difficult to follow through on what the person knows is the right course of action because of policies or procedures occuring at the organizational or facility level
ethical dilemmas - difficult to identify what the best ethical course of action woould be because of conflicts that occur when determining the resolution
