to anterior deltoids/pec major and minor
to clavicle, sternum anterior ribs
diaphragm, abdomen and illiopsoas

cervical sprain/strain

shoulder injury

post mastectomy
indications (2)
post abdominal surgery
postural imbalances
back pain/cervical, thoracic and lumbar dysfxns
rib dysfxns
thoracic outlet syndrome
healed fx
clavicle
ribs
acromion
etc
contraindications (1)
unhealed fx
acute cervical, shoulder, anterior trunk injury
scar in inflammatory or fibroblastic stages of healing
active cancer in area
skin infection in area treated
contraindications (2)
costochondritis
over irradiated skin
pt with fever, undiagnosed, severe pain
general contraindications
positioning
keep spine in neutral
fill in any spaces w/ towel rolls, pillows, etc
the gown should be
open in the front
sheet should be covering
lower extremities
towel should be covering
ANY area of anterior trunk that is not currently being massaged
preferred position
supine
secondary position
sidelying
