BMI 17.5 or less self induced weight loss - vomiting, medication, dieting, excessive exercise body image disturbance fear of fatness amenorrhoea

A
muscle wasting hair loss lamigo hair cold, blue peripheries dry skin hypercarotenaemia bradycardia and hypotension bruising

What indicates high risk for anorexia?
A
weight loss >1kg a week
core temp <34
prolonged QT - HR <40, BP <80

What is the diagnostic criteria of bulimia nervosa?
A
persistant preoccupation with eating
irrisistable craving for food
binges then attempts to reverse this
morbid dread of fatness

What are the signs of bulimia nervosa?
A
calluses on knuckles - russels sign
parotid hypertrophy
dental carries

What are the medical side effects of bulimia nervosa?
A
oesophageal reflux oesophageal tears/rupture hypokalaemia subjunctival haemorrhage dehydration seizures
