Phases of SAR
- Uncertainty Phase (INCERFA):

coordinating the conduct of search and rescue operations.

- Once Search and Rescue arrive all aircraft are relieved of responsibility.

- Daylight: Rocking wings.
- Darkness: Flashing landing lights on and off twice or switching navigation lights on and off.
