angular kinematics Flashcards
radian (unitless)
57.3 degrees (doesn’t matter the size of the circle)
length of arc is equal to the length of the radius
2 pie radians = 1 revolution
pie radians= 180
2 pie radians= 360
circumference of circle
2pie r
definition of a “positive’ angle
counterclockwise = positive
clockwise = negative
angular distance and displacement
angular distance (ϕ )= length of path traveled (degrees radians)
Angular displacement (θ)= difference between starting and ending position
angular speed
σ (sigma)= the angular distance covered divided by the time interval over which the motion occurred
(Phi/change in time) (deg/sec, rad/sec, rev/sec)
angular velocity
omega (ω)= the angular displacement divided by the time interval over which the motion occurred
theta/change in time (deg/sec. rad/sec, rev/sec)
angular acceleration
α (alpha)= the rate of change of angular velocity
omega/change in time (deg/sec^2)
