Anatomy Lecture 17_Cardiovascular imaging Flashcards
On a chest x ray how many posterior ribs should you be able to count on inspiration

On a chest x ray, how many posterior ribs should you be able to count on expiration

How do you look for rotation in a chest x ray?
Look at the spinious processes and compare their location relative to the medial boarder of the clavical.
Describe an apical lordotic x ray view
In an apical lordotoc view the clavicals are either absent or appear to be higher than the apex of the lungs
what is Drs ABCDEFGH
D - details (name, type of film, etc) R - RIPE (rotation, inspiration, picture, exposure) S - Soft tissues A - Airway B - Bones C - Cardiac D - Diaphragm E - Edges/effusions F - Fields/fissures G - Great vessels H - Hila and mediastinum
What is the cardiothoracic ratio, how is it calculated and what is normal
It is the ratio of the widest part of the heart divided by the widest part of the thoracic cavity. It is taken on a PA during inspiration. It should be less than 50%
How do you identify pectus excavatum in an x ray?
In the lateral view the sternium impinges on the heart
On a heart CT where do the left atria and right ventrical sit?
The left artium is closest to the spin, and the Right ventrical sits closest to the sternum
On a front chest x ray, what makes up the border of the heart?
Right boarder is the right atrium, the bottom border is the Right ventrical, the left border is the left ventrical
Review the 5 levels of the heart
