Anatomy Lecture 12_Upper Limb innervation and Blood Supply Flashcards
What nerves innervate the Subscapularis
Upper and Lower Subscapular N.
What nerve innervates the Teres Major
Lower Subscapular N.
What are the abductors of the arm?
Deltoid Supraspinatus
What are the rotators of the scapula?
Serratus anterior Trapezius
What are the boarders of the Quadrangular Space. What passes through it?
Lateral border –humerus Medial border –long head of triceps brachii Superior border –teres minor Inferiorly –teres major axillary nerve and posterior humeral circumflex artery
What are the boarders of the Triangular Interval. What passes through it?
Lateral border –lateral head of the triceps Medial border –long head of the triceps Superior border –teres major Contents: the radial nerve and deep brachial artery
What are the boarders of the Triangular Space. What passes through it?
Contents: the scapular circumflex artery Lateral border –long head of the triceps Superior border –teres minor Inferior border –teres major
What causes carpal tunnel syndrome?
inflamation of the median nerve
Describe the branching of the arteries of the upper limb
see attached
How do you test for anastemosis between the ulnar and radial arteries (Allen’s Test)?
- Test for collateral circulation between the Ulnar and Radial Arteries
- Pinch off both arteries at wrist
- Make a fist several times to remove blood
- Let go of the ulnar artery while keeping pressure on radial
- See if blood flow reaches entire hand
