Amiodarone MOA:
-Blocks sodium, potassium & calcium channels
-Prolongs the action potential & repolarization
-Slows the sinus rate
-Increases the PR interval & QT interval
Amiodarone Indications:
-Ventricular fibrillation
-Pulseless Ventricular tachycardia
-Wide complex tachycardia
Amiodarone Contraindications:
-Cardiogenic shock
-Hemodynamically significant bradycardia
-2nd degree & 3rd degree heart block
-Hemodynamically significant hypotension
Amiodarone S/E:
-Bradycardia
-Hypotension
-Heart block
-CHF
-Headache
-Dizziness
-Nausea/vomiting
Amiodarone Routes:
-IV
-IO
-Infusion
Amiodarone Onset:
1-3 min
Amiodarone Adult Dosages:
-Cardiac arrest: 300 mg; IF NO RESPONSE, admin 150 mg over 3-5 min
-Tachydysrhythmias: 150 mg in 50 mL D5W infused over 10 min
-Infusion: 1.0 mg/min
Amiodarone PEDS Dosages:
-Ventricular fibrillation: 5.0 mg/kg; may repeat every 5 min twice
MAX DOSE 300 mg
-Ventricular tachycardia: 5.0 mg/kg over 20 min; may repeat twice
Atropine Sulfate Classes:
-Anticholinergic
-Parasympathetic blocker
-Antidote
Atropine Sulfate Standard Supplies:
-Prefilled syringe
-Vial
Atropine MOA:
-Blocks the action of acetylcholine
-Increases HR
-Reverses the symptoms of cholinergic poisoning
Atropine Indications:
-Hemodynamically significant bradycardia
-Organophosphate poisoning
-Carbamate poisoning
-Nerve agent exposure
