4th Amendment
Protects people from unreasonable searches and seizures by the government
5th Amendment
Can’t be tried twice for the same crime under the same jurisdiction, right to a grand jury, due process, double jeopardy, plead the fifth (protection against self-incrimination)
6th Amendment
Right to speedy and public trial, impartial jury, witnesses at trial, legal representation/attorney, to right to confront witnesses during the trial, and to be informed/aware of criminal charges
7th Amendment
Right for citizens to have a jury trial in federal courts with civil cases where the claim exceeds a certain dollar value
8th Amendment
Cruel and unusual punishment (not including death penalty unless against minors or those with disabilities) and protects from excessive bail and fines (discretionary)
10th Amendment
Fed gov only has right to enforce federal laws in the constitution; every other law is the state’s responsibility
11th Amendment
People cannot sue state they’re not a resident of
13th Amendment
Abolition of slavery except as criminal punishment
14th Amendment
Right to life, liberty, and property can’t be deprived or taken away without due process of law
