How to express a future event with aller
Aller+infinitive
•Usually something that will happen in the near future
•May also refer to more distant future plans, events, or intentions
We are going to call Amine
On va appeler Amine
They are going to leave Geneva this evening
Elles vont quitter Genève ce soir
You are going to wear jeans?
Tu vas porter un jean?
How are questiosn formed for aller+infinitive future tense?
Translate are you going to wear jeans?
They are formed with intonation or est-ce que. Inversion can be made with the conjugated form of aller before the infinitive.
- Tu vas porter un jean?
- Est-ce que tu vas porter un jean?
- Vas-tu porter un jean?
How is negative expressed with aller+infinitive future tense?
As with other verbs, the negative ne… pas construction surrounds the conjugated forms of aller. In aller infinitive, pas precedes the infinitive.
- Elle ne va pas arriver avant midi. (She won’t/isn’t going to arrive before noon)
- Vous n’allez pas passer à la poste? (Aren’t you going to stop at the post office?)
