what does the AEP provide a framework for?
the response capabilities of the airport and the community, it describes jurisdiction boundaries, the chain of command, and procedures for communication and coordination
The AEP must contain the instructions for response to the following hazards
aircraft incidents and accidents, terrorism incidents, structures fires, fuel farms, and fuel storage areas, natural disasters, hazardous materials, sabotage, hijack incidents, and other unlawful interference with operations, failure of power for movement area lighting, water rescue situations, and crow control
The AEP should include the following functional sections
command and control, communications, alert notification and warning, emergency public information, protective actions, law enforcement or security, firefighting and rescue, health and medical, resource management, airport operations and maintenance
what is the national response framework for?
a guide to how the nation responds to all types of disasters and emergencies
what is the point of the objectives for the response mission
it defines the capabilities necessary to save lives, protect property and the environment, meet basic human needs, stabilize the incident, restore basic services and community functionality, and establish a safe and secure environment to facilitate the integration of recovery activities
what does NIMS train you in
the incident management basis for the NRF and defines standard command and management structures
what do the component of the NIMS support
response
the components include preparedness, communication and information management, resource management, and command and management
mitigation
actions that can prevent, alleviate, or diminish the potential effects of a disastr situation
prepairedness
actions that enhance emergence response capabilities…. emergency plans, trills, training, and exercise
recovery
actions that restore the airport and community to pre-emergency conditions

level I Alert
precautionary approach to a situation - real or suspected emergency exists on an aircraft, would not normally cause serious difficulty or make the landing unsafe
Level II Alert
actual aircraft emergency exist in flight - an accident may well occur resulting in injuries and aircraft damage
Level III Alert
an actual aircraft accident has occurred
