Define: Professionalism
Meticulous adherence to undeviating courtesy, honesty, and responsibility in ones dealings with customers and associates, plus a level of excellence that goes over and above the commercial considerations and legal requirements.
What is different about piloting for personal reasons vs. piloting for hire or reward?
Personal = likely to be for a hobby
Hire or reward = may be required to fly in conditions that are legal but lower than personal minimas.
Define: Efficiency
Doing something well within the time allocated.
Define: Effectiveness
Concentrating on tasks that move you closer to the objective.
What is the primary responsibility of flight crew?
To safely operate the aircraft.
Is it better to be effective or efficient?
Effective
Who is the PIC responsible to in carrying out his or her duties?
Responsible for the safe operation of aircraft in flight, safety and well-being of all passengers and crew, and the safety of cargo carried.
Who is the co-pilot responsible to in carrying out his or her duties?
- PIC
- In the event of an incapacitation of the PIC , the first officer will assume command
What are the key features of good and safe airmanship?
- Consistent use of good judgement
- Developed skills to accomplish flight objectives
- Uncompromising flight discipline developed through systematic skill acquisition and proficiency
- High state of situational awareness through one’s knowledge of self, aircraft, team, environment, and risk.
