ageism- negative media portrayals. harder to get travel insurance which makes it harder for them to establish an identity separate from age

- grey pound= beauty market can mask age and it creates leisure opportunities for older people
-they have a lot of knowledge wisdom and life experience often shown in documentaries
what is a criticism of age link a theory
- too deterministic
- intersectionality = other things contribute eg. feminism women taken off the screen as they get older eg. news programmes often an older man and a younger woman
