Combine; unite in one body. The unions will attempt to amalgamate their groups into one national body

Improve. Many social workers have attempted to ameliorate the conditions of people living in the slums.
Anachronism
Something or someone misplaced in time. The poets reference to clocks in his poem about Caesar was an anachronism as no clocks existed in Caesars time. Anachronistic
Analogous
Comparable. Actors often improvise; working through an analogous situation closer to their own experience.
Anarchy
Absence of a governing body; state of disorder. The assassination of the leader lead to a period of anarchy.
